Underdogs To Top Dogs: Fresno State NCAA Champions
"Fresno State completed the most improbable run in recent college sports history as they became the lowest seed ever to win a national championship defeating the Georgia Bulldogs 6-1 on Wednesday night at Rosenblatt Stadium. The night belonged to Steve Detwiler who had a career night in the championship game going 4-4, driving in all six Fresno State runs and setting College World Series records for the most home runs in a championship game with two, most home runs in a championship series with three, most RBIs in a championship game with six, most RBIs in a championship series with nine, most extra base hits in a championship game, most bases in a championship game with 11 and in a fitting end to the game he caught the final out for Fresno State.
Fresno State scored two runs in the top of the second inning off of a two run blast by Steve Detwiler. Detwiler drove in the third run of the game in the top of the fourth with a double that scored Steve Susdorf and the Detwiler continued his one man onslaught with a three run blast in the top of the sixth and then capped off his night with a single in the top of the eighth.
Fresno State got a masterful outing out of Justin Wilson who head coach Mike Batesole was just hoping to et four or five innings out of tonight. Wilson went eight strong innings giving up just one run on a Gordon Beckham home run in the bottom of the eighth. He surrendered just five hits and struck out nine.
After trailing 5-0 heading into the bottom of the third inning in game two, the Fresno State offense outscored Georgia 25-6 over the next 12 innings.
Fresno State en route to the championship defeated the #2 national seed North Carolina twice, the #3 national seed Arizona State twice, the #6 national seed Rice once and the #8 national seed Georgia twice. In addition they defeated two Top 20 teams in Long Beach State and San Diego twice. Fresno State also joined Oregon State (2006) as the only two teams to have lost the first game of the championship series and gone on to win the title.
The championship is the first for Fresno State and just the second in school history as the softball team took home a national championship in 1998. "

Buzzing through the Day
The day revolves around the latest buzz.
At least that how it felt today.
In a time of reflection, i've noticed that we
have all become a hypebeast in our own way.
Some dig into killer vans, a fresh stussy tee, or
a sharp baseball hat to rep their emotion
in the flavor of color and overall style to
complete themslef.
Mostly its to feel fresh but is to catch the
eye of the opposite sex and being relevant
with trends.
All in all this vid by Shwayze captures
the essence of summer and the countless
defeats of receiving that glance from
such a lady/guy (for the females), acknowleding
ones own stlye.
(Ahh!!, stupid, universal have to request the actual vid, but at
least this one is practically the same with an annoying ad
added on. Like we don't get those all the time while surfing the net.)

"There is a certain word that is the reigning king of epithets in the lexicon of offensive language. It's a word so complex and entrenched in a unique history that it can either be a polarizing term of endearment or a powder keg of repugnance depending on the surroundings, circumstances and who you ask. The word is such an uncomfortable and delicate subject that a meeting of the minds with the administration of Hypebeast had to occur to discuss if this video should even be shown here. I'm positive these were the thoughts that were floating around in the ambitious mind of Nas, who has courted controversy of the political breed since the beginning of his legendary career. Since Nas announced the title of his new album will be called "N***er" (self censoring) a tidal wave of controversy engulfed the project with civil rights activists up in arms and Hip Hop fans in a frenzy.
Although some of the mystique surrounding the album may have faded with the decision to change the album title to simply "Nas", the constant conversation is sure to return once the viewing public gets an eyeful of the incendiary clip for the single "Be a N***er Too". The seemingly omnipresent internet video director Rik Cordero, attempts to accomplish in a seven minute clip what Spike Lee does in an entire film in terms of powerful visuals. The video is a stark, brutal piece of cinematic imagery that juxtaposes between modern prejudice and slavery’s viral racism. The song was already floating around the net for a few weeks with all signs pointing to the fact that Nas is at his most poignant and poetic. He attempts to discuss how much the word has been overused and bastardized to a point that it has become a monolithic term that all races use to describe both endearment and ignorance. The message of the song is powerful enough, but the bone chilling ending of the video puts it all in perspective."

Fresh Friday Vid. The Roots-Rising Up
Describing a Hip Hop group as veterans or seasoned isn't always necessarily a compliment in a genre that thrives off of new and cutting edge music. Several groups in hip hop who were around as recently as the mid to late 90's are respected for they’re past material but largely forgotten as relics of the past. This is why it is so incredible that a group like The Roots is not only still relevant but is still releasing some of their best material in their fifteen year careers. Black Thought is still seemingly in his prime, easily navigating a flow that combines the best parts of Kool G Rap and Big Daddy Kane. The band itself sonically is tighter then ever.
?uestlove, the bands founding member, drummer and heart and sole of the group has lately been lacing the group with the hardest beats he can. A sound that destroys the "jazz rap" label they erroneously achieved in their early days. The tone and themes of the Roots music lately has turned more somber and serious with social commentary on the Bush Administration and pontification on life and death. However, The Roots never seem to jump off the deep end and still know that the original basis of Hip Hop is tracks that make you want to get up and dance. "Rising up" feat Wale & Chrisette Michelle is The Roots at their most celebratory and no doubt is one of their most up beat on their album coming soon titled "Rising Down."

Japan Attack
Here is the "Japanese City" Pack from Nike which includes the Osaka Dunk, Fukuoaka Dunk, Nagoya Dunk, and Tokyo Dunk, each representing a landmark feature of the Japanese city they're named after. In terms of color, all the shoes are definitely on the bright and flashy side with the exception of Tokyo Dunk, simply black and white. However, the Tokyo Dunk stands out with its black leather and white fur, inspired by a giant panda. The Osaka Dunk, with red/white stripes and blue linings, represents the food of Osaka and its icon, a drumming doll.
The Fukuoaka Dunk pays tribute to its festival and shrines, with multicolored patent leather and asymmetrical pairings. The Nagoya Dunk is completely covered in gold patent leather with mint green accents, referring to its famous Gold Dolphin. With meaningful and eye-catching designs, the shoes make up for a great release for all the Dunk fans out there.

The Return of Prodigy
The shock factor of Gangster rap has been eroded for more than a decade now. The listening public is no longer appalled and pleasured by the unabashed mentioning of automatic weapons and the sale of illegal pharmaceuticals as we once were. The shtick has become so common place that we now have come to expect it. However, every now and then a veteran comes along and challenges our perception of the genre and actually makes it dangerous again. Prodigy of Mobb Deep was once considered musically dead by several musical critics. His vivid street analysis seemed to wane over the years and his pairing with the polarizing G-unit crew seemed to turn off some lifelong fans.
However, with a new concentrated focus and a more precise brutal delivery Prodigy has picked up where he left off with his mixtape offering last year "Return of the Mac". His current release “H.N.I.C 2" is some of the grimiest, nihilistic gangster rap you will hear this entire year. P’s flow has become less complicated and straighter to the point adding to the gritty realism of his current release. Also his paranoid conspiracy theorist persona that was delivered in early Mobb albums is not only back in full force it dictates the tone of the entire album. Sonically, Alchemist takes the brunt of the production and masterfully lays down eerie tracks for P to brutalize. Maybe its Ps current jail sentence or his frantically weird new blog postings that makes the listener believe every word he says on the album. Either way, I dare you to turn on “Veteran’s Memorial” and not get shivers up your spine. H.N.I.C indeed.

Krink. Update
PFC 6 (Palace Fighting Championship)
A lot went down, champion lost there belts and high-light reels were made, in partison with Tapout. Though, two or three of the matches were out of context when the ref anounced who the winner was. It still brought out that adrenaline rush we all get when we are privaleged to witness a fight, street, ring or cage.
A surprising guest/trainer was Chuck Lidell himself. Encouraging his co-figher/teammate, the valley was glad to see that the UFC champ himself encourages PFC fighting. And a couple of new fighters have joined aboard the PFC roster, including, Josh, a former UFC season show fighter.
Pics are to come, so enjoy soon!
